Document locks when I scroll with mouse + space button

Every once in a while, I will be scrolling my document by pressing and holding space (activates hand tool)  and dragging around my document with my mouse and my document freezes. By freezes I mean I can select any tool and it just displays the default pointer cursor and won't let me do anything. I am THANKFULLY able to save it and re-open it and then everything works again... until it doesn't again. It's really frustrating. If I have two documents open in Photoshop and the one document I'm working on is frozen, I can go to the other document and do things with that... I just can't work on my current document until I save it and re-open it. It happens very frequently. Sometimes twice within a ten minute span.

I say mouse but it typically happens on my XP Pen Tablet that's connected to the computer. It isn't my Tablet because I had a Wacom before this and it happened on that too (that one didn't act like a physical monitor, it was just a pad).

I'll post a few screenshots of after this happened. You can see I have selected a tool in the tool bar, but all I see is a pointer cursor and I actually can't do anything to the document until I close and reopen it.

After doing some more searching, I found an old issue that was exactly my problem: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/photoshop-21-1-2-zoom-and-pan-freeze-fixed/m-p/11072357 The solution someone discovered was the disable Flick Panning and after disabling it I no longer receive the freezing issue... however, this seems like a bug as I rather enjoyed that type of panning. The ticket was created 2 years ago... is there any plan to fix this in the future? Hopefully now that there is awareness on the topic and it's pinpointed to what is causing the bug?

I have updated all the drivers now and restarted. The problem still persists. I have a short video of it but I can't upload it. Just a note, this happens with the hand tool in general, not just when holding the space bar to activate the hand tool shortcut and it's only when it's on my XP-Pen tablet. So when a document is on there, and I scroll the document with the handtool, the window freezes and I have to close and re-open it. I reached out to XP-Pen support and tried a few things and seems the issue lies in Photoshop.

Thank you for the info @shannab81049311 .  We see your graphics driver is 7 months old, please see if there is an update and install then restart Ps and see if the issue pursists.  It is always a good idea to update all drivers for tablets or any other device as they can cause issues.

Thank you,

Hi @shannab81049311 sorry to hear this.

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,

Hi, i see from your screenshots it shows that your file tabs are not attached to interface of Photoshop may that is the reason for your freeze when you do work on multiple files try to reset your preferences then work...regards
