Does anyone else HATE the new 2025 photoshop text tool?

I can'ty stand the new text tool. Now when click and I grab the handles, it stretches the text and takes a good 10 seconds to do. I have to wait to undo and then try to double cluck to get to the actual tet tool.  (newest Mac Studio M2 Max with 64GB memory)

This is beyond frustrating. Is there a way to revert the setting back to what it used to be. It was always awful, but at least I didn't waste time trying to adjust/ add text.

PLUS I seem to keep adding random text block with Lorem Epson text, if I don't click the right way. Then I have to undo that and try to select the box, but it doesn't always select!

Just a bunch of time wasting B.S. with the new tool.

HOW DO I GO BACK?  Is there a setting someplace or an add-on to fix the hoirrible update?

I don't see any difference with the type tool here. You can reset the type tool by clicking on the small downward pointing 'reveal' arrow, at the top left of the options bar and click reset tool.

On the 'Lorum Ipsum' issue, you might want to go to Preferences > Type and uncheck 'Fill new type layers with placeholder text'

Anytime I make a textbox, it adds a bunch of latin text that I have to erase. All the recommendations online say to go to Edit > Preferences > Type to uncheck the box for filling in placeholder texty, but I don't have Preferences showing up anywhere. Under Type there is a  "paste lorem ipsum" but that only puts text in. How do I get rid of this annoying preset????

Hi Sarah.  Yes, if you uncheck Fill new type layers with placeholder text you will no longer see the LORUM IPSUM

It's distracting at first, but really quite useful if you stry and stick with it for a wee while.  You can see what the current font looks like and how large it is, and because the LORUM IPSUM is selected, it will disappear as soon as you type the first letter.

The Contextual Task Bar can also be useful. you can change the font size without having to move the cursor way across the screen, and see other fonts by clicking on the font name, or the dropdown arrow.  We are all about saving fractions of seconds here and there, because they all add up by the end of your day.  And all that time you saved can be spent at the pub with your work friends.  😉

Hi. Thanks for all the info. I understand how to utilize all those tools, I
just can't find the box that allows me to "uncheck". It doesn't seem to be
there - very frustrating.
