Question

Edit a vector with selection tool A

Hi,

I've been experiencing a bug in Photoshop for quite a while.

Sometimes, when I try to edit a vector shape using the A (Direct Selection) tool, nothing happens — no anchor points or handles appear.

A temporary workaround is to draw a new shape (like a rectangle), which somehow makes the anchor points reappear on the original shape.

Could this be fixed in a future update? Or is there something I might be missing?

Thanks in advance!

Could you please post screenshots or a screen recording with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Paths, Options Bar, …) visible?

Do you click on the Path with the Direct Selection Tool?

Can you tell us the version of Photoshop and describe the steps, such as: select the shape layer in the layers panel, activate the Direct Selection Tool, click on the shape line...

This issue may occur when the shape layer is not selected or active, and the Active Layers option is chosen from the Select list in the Options bar, based on my testing. Switch to All layers and test again, for instance.
