"Enhance Detail" issue - white layer

Question

Whenever I try to use the "Enhance Detail" tool, it does not work and a white layer is generated (see the screenshots below). The issue occurs in both 8-bit and 16-bit images.

My setup: Mac Pro (Late 2013) 64GB RAM on Monterey 12.7.5 and Photoshop 25.11.0

According to PS my graphics card is compatible (OpenGL, Metal active, and 2GB VRAM)

In Photoshop 2024>Preferences>Image Processing>Enhance Detail Processing, you might try switching the method. That is if it's set to Faster, then select More stable, restart Photoshop and see if that makes any difference.

Hi @DanielPlateado, yes, as @Lumigraphics points out, your system might at fault. What does your GPU Compatibility Check indicate? (Help > GPU Compatibility). Have you tried adjusting any of the Image Processing settings under Preferences to see if that makes a difference?

Does the white layer happen with any image you try? How are you masking the cat? Adding a new mask layer? Painting with adjustment brush? Are you using the Masking slider (with alt/opt to see the mask) on the Detail panel? I'm also curious to know if you are working in Camera Raw directly on a raw file or on a PSD that has been converted to a smart object for non-destructive editing.
