Question

Eraser Tool Missing Brush Tip

  • May 8, 2025

Application: Adobe Photoshop 2025

Operating System: Windows [Windows 11 Version 23H2]

Description of the Problem:

The Eraser tool (E) in Photoshop 2025 is not displaying the brush tip. Instead of showing the circular outline of the eraser brush, the cursor is only a crosshair. This makes it difficult to accurately gauge the size and shape of the eraser.

Expected Results:

The Eraser tool cursor should display the brush tip, showing the size and shape of the eraser, similar to how the Brush tool (B) and other painting tools display their brush tips.

Hi @Hani.sawiress Thank you for reaching out!

Can you share a few more details, like your System Configuration from Help > System Info? This would help us narrow down the issue further.

While we wait for your reply, you can try these fixes:

  • Reset the Eraser Tool: With the Eraser tool selected, right-click on the tool icon in the Options bar at the top of the screen and choose "Reset Tool."
  • Reset all Tools: If resetting the single tool doesn't work, you can try resetting all tools. Right-click on any tool icon in the Options bar and choose "Reset All Tools."
  • Reset Preferences: As a more drastic step, you can reset Photoshop's preferences. This will revert all your custom settings to their defaults. It is advised to make a backup of your preferences first.

Try these and let us know how it goes!

Cheers!

Noel

I'm glad it's working well now.

Just to add, I noticed that some commercial brushes with grayscale elements might still not appear even after applying the fix. That was the situation I encountered. Hopefully, Adobe will address this issue in a future update.
