"Error 1 please reinstall" happens repeatedly

I was using Photoshop CS6 normally, and I opened a file and suddenly the software crashed. I thought it was lack of memoery or something, and tried to open it again, but out of nowhere I received this "Configuration error. Error 1. Please reinstall" message. I reinstalled as directed. And then not a few minutes later the same thing happens. Software crash upon opening file, and when I reopen the software, the same error message appears.

Also for some very strange reason, the entirety of the Adobe folder in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\common files\" directory is gone.

I reinstalled again, and this time it seems to be fine. I'm not sure what is happening? Is it a virus? A corrupted component? Reinstalling over and over is a hassle, and I rather hate having to redo my setup and rearaange my brushes and tool sets over and over.

When Photoshop crashes over and over again, best to reset/trash preferences.  

Try trashing your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings.

(Mac OS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

This action only affects the items found in the preferences dialog box. Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Photoshop Preferences file, including general display options, file-saving options, performance options, cursor options, transparency options, type options, and options for plug‑ins and scratch disks. Brushes (and lots of other setting) are not affected by the above instructions for deleting preferences. You may wish to make a screen capture of the settings in the Preferences dialog to reset them prior to deleting of this file.
