Error code -2

I have a mac laptop which is running Photoshop just great including several 3rd party plugins which are very useful and important to me.

I just acquired a new MacMini M4, and I see it as an activated device on my account. However, I can't add any plugins; I get the message "Couldn't install plugin, please try again. Error code -2. Help Center".

My understanding that a -2 error code is a file system error, but I'm unsure how this works with the plug ins. There's plenty of space on the mac mini SSD.

Logging in and out of my Adobe account as well as restarting the mac mini doesn't seem to help.

TIA for any help or pointers.

Hi @fzmann, Thank you for reaching out! Could you please share more details, such as your system configuration, from Help> System info> Copy and paste it into a text file and attach it to your response? What plugins are you trying to install? Additionally, a screen recording or screenshots of the issue would be incredibly helpful. You can share it via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another public file-sharing platform.

While we wait, you can try out these fixes and see if they change anything.

1) Check File Permissions: Since "Error code -2" is a file system error, ensuring Photoshop and the Creative Cloud app have the correct permissions is crucial. Please refer to this thread for steps: Learn how to give full disk access to Photoshop on... - Adobe Product Community - 12889716

2) Check Plugin Folder Permissions:

  • In Finder, press Command + Shift + G and go to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/.
  • Right-click on the "Plugins" folder and select "Get Info."
  • Under "Sharing & Permissions," ensure your user account has "Read & Write" permissions. If not, click the lock icon, enter your password, and change the permissions. Then, click the gear icon and select "Apply to enclosed items."

3) Clear Creative Cloud Cache:

  • Quit Creative Cloud.
  • Navigate to the OOBE folder: In Finder, press Command + Shift + G and enter ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE.
  • Delete opm.db: Locate the opm.db file and move it to the Trash.
  • Relaunch Creative Cloud and try installing the plugin again.

Hi Noel,

Thank you! It was the dreaded disk permissions in MacOs. I thought I had addressed them, but I obviously didn't.

Best,
