Error Message: Could not update smart object files or Camera Raw Filter because of a program error

The following errors occurs in PS 26.6.1 and the previous version when I attempt to execute Camera Raw Filter with or without a Smart Filter:

              Could not update smart object files because of a program error.

              Could not update Camera Raw Filter because of a program error.

This does not happen with many of the other filters, like Smart Sharpen, Noise, etc.

File size could be the issue:

  1. The error can be reproduced with images over 1 or 2 GB, but NOT on small files.
  2. Restarting the program will sometimes work.
  3. Restarting the computer fixes the problem temporarily, but it eventually comes back.

Computer Info:
Windows 10, 58 GB RAM available to PS, NVidia 2070 Super 8 GB Graphics Card, 300GB available scratch disk space.

Thanks for sharing the system info! One thing I noticed was your graphics drivers. Try installing the latest Studio drivers from Nvidia's website, and I would recommend doing a fresh install. Also, as you mentioned that the error comes up after you've worked on your files for a while, try optimizing the preferences of Photoshop using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/3HlY7Mk

Hi, Nikunj!
I tried to drop in a text file, but it doesn't seem to take. So I pasted it below.
I've been trying to reproduce the error in the 26.7 version, but it usually doesn't happen immediately. It usually takes several history steps before the problem pops up.

Thanks for sharing the system info! One thing I noticed was your graphics drivers. Try installing the latest Studio drivers from Nvidia's website, and I would recommend doing a fresh install. Also, as you mentioned that the error comes up after you've worked on your files for a while, try optimizing the preferences of Photoshop using the steps suggested here: https://adobe.ly/3HlY7Mk

Please go to the Help menu in Photoshop, then System Info, and copy the text. You can share the info with us by either pasting it here as a reply or by pasting it in a text file and sharing the file with us. 

Meanwhile, try updating Photoshop to version 26.7 to check if the issue persists.
