Error with AI based selection in Camera Raw (within Photoshop)

Running PS 27.3.1 on Win11

I get error messages in the camera raw filter, in Photoshop when I try to run the AI based selection/masks on a portrait
See this for the person recognition:

Then a different error message but still an error for the “select subject”

And same again in the “remove” section

Other GenAI features work as intended in Photoshop proper, it’s just in ACR.

Thanks!

OK, I checked last night with the same image and it worked.
The bug have been first reported at 13.00 (my time) by the user. I tested it immediately and I had the error messages as above. I asked around but had no answer about whether we were the only ones. Subsequently, I tried again at 15.00 and it still didn’t work, so I filed this bug report, and shared the error messages.

On both occasions I checked Adobe status and all was clear. I asked the OP from Discord to post here as well, but they didn’t.

So happy to report that all works as intended right now, we may file it as a breach in the space-time continuum that lasted at least 5 hours 😁

I’m getting this Bug randomly in Adobe Bridge when editing with Camera RAW.
If I close Bridge & relaunch it usually works normally again.

Started happening in the last month or two, can’t remember which update it started.

There have been an update since I first posted the report, and it have been all clear since I notified it was resolved for me. Is updating fixed it?
Last update for Camera Raw was 10 days ago

LrC updates and ACR ones usually come at the same time.

I got the update (ACR 18.2) 11 days ago, it didn’t fix the issue.

This is my production PC and haven’t had time to do a full uninstall/install of all my Adobe apps.

The bug usually happens on my first launch of Adobe Bridge.
As mentioned, if I encounter the bug, I close Bridge, relaunch and 95% of the time it solves the issue for that session.

Bug first encountered 2 or 3 updates ago, maybe January, possibly earlier?

Hi @Imaginerie

I tried testing this on my side but have not been able to reproduce the issue. When you have a moment, could you let us know if this happens only with this particular photo or if it affects all photos? I am also curious whether it only occurs with certain subjects or people, or if sky and background selections are affected too. If possible, let us know whether you see the same behavior in Lightroom or Lightroom Classic, since both use the same Adobe Camera Raw processing engine for raw files.

It would really help as well if you could share your system info. You can find it in Photoshop under Help and then System Info. Just copy everything into a text file and attach it here, or share it through Google Drive, WeTransfer, or any file sharing option you prefer. Thanks!

I will test, however, it would be quite the miracle, as I was alerted to this by a user on Discord, and to verify it, I took literally the first image on Adobe Stock.

Select Sky, background work fine in LrC as well as remove, and person + subject selection.

Let me check with a few other images and come back to you.
