Every time I move my cursor with any tool, my cursor switches from that tool to a black arrow

Hey everyone,

This has been getting progressively worse as I've used the newest version of photoshop. I'm running version 25.5.1 on an 2019 iMac with 64gb of memory and a Radeon Pro 4gb graphics card. I'm running the most current OS, Sonoma 14.3.1.

No matter if I'm using the brush tool, pen tool, etc., everytime I move my mouse or tablet pen, it switches my cursor from that tool to the regular black Apple arrow. This makes selections and most other processes extremely difficult since I can't see where my tool is actually working, let alone the rapid switching back and forth of the cursors is extremely annoying. Does anyone know of a fix for this or is this just something we have to live with?
