Question

Export As... JPEG quality setting changes as mouse moves to other areas of window

Issue

  • Photoshop version: 26.5
  • OS: macOS Sequoia 15.4.1

Steps to reproduce:

  1. File->Export->Export As...
  2. Format: JPG
  3. Set quality to 7
  4. move mouse to another field such as Metadata

Expected result: the quality should stay where you left it after you move your mouse to another area of the window
Actual result: the quality setting changes as you are moving you mouse in another part of the window, leading to inadvertant setting of the quality lower than you intended

Note: Unfortunately, this only happens occasionally, but it is rather insidious given the side effect of a quality setting that is lower than you intended.

@johnm451 have you tried manually resetting your Photoshop preferences

Remember to back up your settings before doing the preference reset
