Export Layer Comps to Files naming convention

I have a layer comp created that I am using for versioning banner ads. My Layer Comp is exporting the name of each layer in the layer comp at the end of a numerical sequence.

I would like to eliminate that portion of the automatically created file names. So from this

ad_300x250_0001_ABC to ad_300x250_ABC

i found a similar question and answer but it was 8 years old and did not work. Remove number sequence when "Export layers to files"

How exactly are you exporting? Please provide more details.

Export As?

A script - such as Layer Comps to Files or another?

Export Save for Web?

As an alternative, a Photoshop script or Adobe Bridge can easily batch rename the output files to remove the sequential number sequence.
