Why did I get a pop-up saying “file can’t be opened because it was moved or deleted” after not opening my file I've been working on for a few days? Now I can't find it anywhere, it's basically gone. Who the heck deleted my file I'm pissed

Its not in the deleted section on photoshop

having this issue at the moment would love a follow up if you find them!

Hi Isabella.

Are you using Windows or Mac?

Do you know what file format your file would be?

If Windows, then search This PC (everything) and assuming you know the file format, with

*.psd (or whatever the file format is)

Set the view to Details and click on the Date Modified column heading to sort the results into newest at the top.

Your file should be at or near the top of the list.

You can also seach with

f*.* Type: = .psd

To find all .psd files that start with an 'f' (if you know the first few characters of the file name)

I'm geussing that the Mac OS has similar seach tools in Finder.

If Photoshop crashed, or your computer restarted when you were not there and Photoshop was open, then the next time you open Photoshop, whatever files had been open with automatically open with -recovered appended to the file name.

I'm embarrassed to ask where the "deleted section" is in Photoshop. In the desktop version, or Web?

Did you find the file listed in File>Open Recent?

Have you looked for it in Finder, at the disk location where you saved it? Where did you save it?
