Files not opening as tabs in PS 26.6.1

I am posting this as a bug, but I hope soemone has an answer. The last discussions i see are rom Arch 2023.

I a running PS 26.6.1. Ever since I updated, every file I open comes up as a floating window. I have set "Open Documents as Tabs" bu to no avail. I have restarted PS, restarted my Mac (running Sonoma 14.7.6). Nada!!

I have to go into Arrange and Consolidate to Tabs on every file I open. Very frustrating.

Any ideas, ayone??

Looks like you have the Application Frame turned off.

In photoshop go to Window and click on Application Frame to turn it back on.

Then hopefully your images will open as Tabs.

Hi CMass,

Thanks for your message. I updated to 27.1 and still have the problem. I am not clear when you say 'video".

I am including a screenshot of what I see. The image in the background is the same image in Bridge - from where I opened the Object. You can see that PS still opens the Objecta s a floating window and not as a tab.

First try to reset the appropriate workspace. Go to the "Window" menu in Photoshop, then "Workspace" and select "Reset [Name of the Workspace]". Retart Photoshop and check if it's help.

If this doesn't help, reset the preferences of Photoshop by using the steps described here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset-preferences

It's recommended to backup your settings before resetting the preferences.
