Question

Files will not save in PS online

I cannot save files in PS Online. I can rename them at the top, but I cannot find where they are located. They are not local or in the cloud. I do have an older Mac that doesnt meet the minimum requirements for using the online service, although the editor works fine. I can work with an image and layers just like the desktop version. There doesn’t seem to be any other issues. However the file will not save and I cannot make any copies either.

    Hi @cknightjohnson,

Sorry for the delayed response. Based on what you described:

    • Exports (PNG) are saved to the cloud
    • PSD/working files are not appearing in Recents/Home
    • “Save to cloud” shows, but files are not visible afterward

A couple of things to check:

    • Try opening Photoshop on the web in a different browser (Chrome/Safari/Edge)
    • Try in a private/incognito window to rule out cache/session issues

Also, confirm whether you are signing in with the same Gmail account associated with your Adobe account (Using “Continue with Google” on the sign-in page) when checking Home/Recents? Once you are logged in, try creating a new file with a simple name (no special characters or trailing dots, make an edit, wait a few seconds, and go back to Home.

If the issue still persists, please share your browser name, browser version, System Info, and a short screen recording showing creating a file, making edits, attempting to save, and going back to Home (no file visible).

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best,
    Anshul Saini

Here’s an update with more info:

I can export images (PNGs) to the cloud and see them in the home area of PS online. However, I still cannot see the PS files that generated these images anywhere. If I make a change to one of the PS files it gives me the option to “save to cloud” in the file menu drop down, and when I click that it appears to save, and that option is no longer available until after I make another change. Still, the PS files are nowhere to be seen.

Additionally I named a file “xyz.” with a period at the end and when I tried to rename it without the period it wouldn’t let me, and would keep the period even after deleting it. It was also telling me I could not have this character in the file name. Maybe this is a client side issue with my old laptop if I am the only one having this issue.

Hey, @cknightjohnson. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Photoshop Web saves automatically and does not require outputting PSDs like Photoshop Desktop.

You can click on the menu button > Back to home, or the PS icon in the top left corner to go back to Photoshop Web's Homepage and scroll down to find your Recents.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for replying Sameer.

I don’t have any files when I go back to the Photoshop homepage. I’ve tried searching, I’ve also made a project thinking maybe I needed to name a folder for it to work. I’ve created several Photoshop files now, named them, made a few layer changes and edits so that they were not empty, but still no files save/appear.

The only file that is available as a Photoshop file I created 6 months ago with the desktop App and uploaded it to cloud storage. I’ve been able to open, edit, and move that file around successfully via PS web app.

Seems like the auto save feature isn’t working. I’ve looked all over and checked my settings to figure out where they are, but I can’t find anything.
