Question

Font looks different than preview

Hey yall,

Small problem here - I'm trying to match a font, and whatthefont's AI font finder says it's Brush ATP, so I went to Creative Cloud and downloaded it. It shows up right on whatthefont, it shows up right on Creative Cloud's preview, but it does NOT show up right in Photoshop. . . The quotation marks in particular are different.

What?!

Can anyone help me out and explain this?

Whatthefont, Creative Cloud preview, Photoshop respective screenshots included

By default Photoshop has Smart Quotes enabled, which is why the quotation marks look different.

If you were to turn off Smart Quotes in Photoshop 2024>Settings (Preferences)>Type, then the

quotation marks would look the same.

I looked for "Brush ATP" on Adobe Fonts and could only find "AFT Brush". Which did WhatTheFont actually suggest? The two names could explain the difference — they are not the same typeface.

ATF Brush comes in five type styles: Light, Book, Regular, Bold, and Black. Which are you using? Are you using the same in both places?

Please don't turn off Smart Quotes. If you do, then you will be using inch marks and foot marks — not quotation marks.
