Generative AI fill

I had been using the generative AI fill by entering descriptions of what I wanted. The program gave me 3 variations to choose from which I thought about and hit "generate" again. I had 6 variations to choose from, and I hit one to see the difference from the last. I then moved to another area to select and fill. When I returned to my original AI filled layer all the other "variations" had disappeared so, I couldn't make another choice! How do I get the variations back that I was choosing from?? I thought once I chose the layer with the fill they'd reappear in the Generate properties window under the dropdown arrow!
