Generative Expand

Hello,

I am trying to use the Generative Expand tool to make this image longer (5000px).

My goal is to make the image look the same like the original wood texture. I basically want this image but longer without stretching it so it looks natural.

The generative expand tool is not giving me anything close.

Wood Image

I expand the canvas to 5000px and hit generative expand. Am I doing something wrong or is their a better method for this?

Hi @Richard253127071prp, Welcome to the Photoshop Community Forums! Here are the steps to using Generative Expand:

    1. Select the Crop Tool: Open your image in Photoshop and select the Crop tool from the toolbar.

    2. Adjust Canvas Size: Drag the corner or edge handles outward to set the canvas size to 5000px.

    3. Select Generative Expand: In the Contextual Task Bar that appears, select Generative Expand.

    4. Add a Text Prompt (Optional): If you want to guide the generation, type a description related to the wood texture into the prompt text-entry box. For instance, you might specify "natural wood texture" to help ensure the generated content aligns more closely with the original.

    5. Generate Content: Click on the Generate button. Review the three generated variations that appear in the Properties panel.

    6. Choose the Best Variation: Select the variation that best resembles the original texture. The first variation is automatically applied, but you can choose others as needed.

    7. Refine Further (Optional): If the results are not satisfactory, try modifying your text prompt for more specific guidance and select Generate again to create additional variations.

You can also use manual Mirroring and Cloning. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions. I hope this helps! ^CH

Thank you, adding some prompt text helped. It took a few tries to get a good match but got something I can use.
