Generative Fill not related to my photo

I’m trying to follow some of the youtube tutorials to change a photo into an oil painting style. I create an alpha channel (50% or 30% grey), make a selection based on the alpha channel, reselect the RGB channel but when I prompt to "oil paint" the creations have nothing to do with my photo.

Seems to only be a problem in the new model and not the older models. Is there a reason for this?

    Which Firefly model are you using?

    Firefly Image 1 and Firefly Image 3 work OK with this method. Firefly Fill and Expand does not.

      Yeah I think I was trying Firefly Fill & Expand which didn’t work. Firefly image 1 and 3 did work. Any reason for this?

      I don't have insider knowledge of the three algorithms but it does show that they work differently. It was always a hidden, albeit useful, feature.
