Generative Remove is extremely slow until Generative Fill is run once in the same document

I am experiencing an issue with the Remove Tool in Photoshop.

When Generative AI is enabled, the Remove Tool is extremely slow compared with before. In some cases, Photoshop also displays a message saying that there is no internet connection.

I found a reproducible workaround:

1. Open an image.
2. Use the Remove Tool with Generative AI enabled.
3. The processing is very slow.
4. Make a selection in the same document.
5. Run Generative Fill once with the prompt left blank.
6. After Generative Fill completes, use the Remove Tool again.
7. The Remove Tool returns to normal speed in that document.

I tested this with two different files in a row, and the same behavior occurred in both files.

Additional observations:

• The improvement only applies to the document where Generative Fill was run.
• Opening another file causes the Remove Tool to become slow again.
• Running Generative Fill once in that file restores normal Remove Tool speed.
• The Remove Tool is fast when Generative AI is disabled.
• Changing the Photoshop version did not resolve the issue.

Environment:

• Windows
• Photoshop 27.10
• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060
• Generative Remove is using cloud processing.

Has anyone else been able to reproduce this behavior?

Running Generative Fill once appears to restore normal Generative Remove performance on a per-document basis.
