Guide layout prints 1/16th inch more than the guide layout is set for

I set a new guide layout for 2 rows/2 columns, 2.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall, .5 inch gutter in both directions.  The guide prints out fine EXCEPT that it is 1/16th too big in both directions.  I used guide layout and it did this, then I created a template by hand starting from center point, and it measured exactly correct according to the rulers, but STILL printed out 1/16th inch too much!

Using Adobe 26.4.0 Beta (because the update for Photoshop made it unusable, so went back to Beta)

Window 11

Epson XP8500 printer (which I have never had an issue with rendering accurately)

This is a new one on me, never had a guide layout print inaccurately before.

Any helpful input appreciated!

Layer Style > Stroke or a Shape Layer Stroke?

In the latter case did you create individual two-point-Path-Shape Layers or rectangles or …?

Could you please post screenshots taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Paths, Options Bar, …) visible?

I have discovered the problem.  I used a simple stroke (ie: rectangular marquee>stroked with 5 px) to lightly show my "cut" lines.  However, though I thought the stroke was set to "Center", it was actually set to "Outside" at 5 px.  When I reset it to "Center" at only 2px, then printed and cut, the size was exact.  Totally operator error & lack of attention to detail on this!  I was not paying attention and also did not take into account how wide 5 pixels actually are.  Sorry to bother y'all, but thank you for the replies, and yes, @creative explorer , I totally did not look at the printer settings!  Even though that wasn't the problem, I should have also taken a look at that.  Just too darned much on my mind yesterday.  Thank you, y'all are great.

Guides should not print, so what exactly did you print?

What is the image’s resolution?

Oh my gosh, you're correct, I didn't even explain that part.  I printed cutting guides (a 3 pixel stroke) that was laid directly over the guides (center).  Apologies for not giving the full information!

@linda-hall curious.... it sounds like you never had an issue until you upgraded to 26.+ so, youw ent back to the Beta. While you've reverted to the beta, it's possible there's still a lingering bug. If feasible, try testing on a stable, non-beta version of Photoshop (if you have access to one). Beta software is inherently more prone to unexpected behavior. You could go back to the previous version of Adobe Photoshop 2024.

On the other hand, could it been an updated printer driver or app of the Epson XP8500 printer that you recently updated?

Look at the printer settings. Maybe anything that is related to scaling, fitting to page, or resizing. Look for options like "Actual Size," "100%," "No Scaling," or similar. Sometimes these are hidden in advanced settings. Absolutely disable anything that might automatically resize the image. I have to admit, I sometimes forget to turn of 'fit to print' when I print PDFs with a bleed!
