Help, my downloaded color images turn to grayscale in Photoshop!

I have my color scale preset to CMY, but when in PS it turns to greyscale. I tried to change the color scales in PS but still grey, and I even when into channels to see if I could change it.

Show a screenshot of the whole Photoshop UI with the image open, and the channels panel visible.

Hi, Thanks for responding. However, PS seemed to remedy itself when I placed in the image. In did both linked and embedded. just see if th eissue was there. But the image both came out in color.

I did not save the file that had the greyscale image in it out of fustration. So I cannot provide a screenshot. But I did check the channels and clicked on the color channel (CTRL+ 2) but didn't change. Do you have any idea what of may of caused this just in case this happens again?

The usual explanation is that a single channels is selected in the Channels panel. It's easy to accidentally hit a shortcut.
