Help new to PSD and trying to colour a layer

Hi

I am trying to make a page with 3 colours on the page as stripe tears. The problem I have when the colour is applied to the layer it doesnt show on the main screen.

I am obviously doing something wrong but not sure. Please help

You might be confusing the Select and Mask Workspace with the image and its Layers.

But if you created a Selection you can use that as a Layer Mask on a Solid Color Layer.

I may not understand your question, but it appears that your Layers are not visible in the Layers panel at first glance.
