Seems like in the past there was a forum in the Adobe corral where general infor was discussed -- I am looking to configure a new custom pc to replace my old custom pc (my builder died) and am looking for

advice --- does this general info forum still exist?

Thanks to those who know more than me,

Joe

You ask here. We get occasion posts asking about new builds.

Where are you based?

For good information on app specific system spec, check out Pugot Systems.  They do extensive testing of different hardware and you can filter by application.  So for Photoshop this link currently has 118 articles.  They also sell workstations, so you can check their setups as a guide to what works.

Gaming rigs are a good bet as they have specs for Photoshop.

Trevor, thanks for your reply. I am in southeast Arkansas. One of my best
friends built all of my computers; he died a few years ago. The last build,
which I am still using, is a full tower with liquid cooling, a Core i7-3.5
(I think it's the first generation), 32 GB RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980
Deluxe, and an ASUS Motherboard. I have five hard drives in it. It has
served me well and handles huge files with no problems. That said, it is
showing signs of age and some occasional slowdowns, I use mainly Photoshop,
Illlustrator, Acrobat and some Premiere Pro and After Effects as well. I am
hoping to more or less replicate what I now have with updated hardware and
upgrade to 64 g ram.

Thanks for your information. I believe it will be very helpful,

Joe

Premiere Pro and After Effects will be the most demanding of hardware resources.

There is a dedicated Video Hardware forum:

I agree with Trevor.Dennis about Puget systems.  As a matter of fact, my current video computer (a few years old now) was purchased from Puget.
