@kumononga_19, thank you for your patience and for testing all of the suggested steps.

After reviewing the System Info you shared, I don’t see any obvious GPU or hardware issues. Photoshop is detecting and using your RTX 4060 correctly, and the graphics driver appears current.

What does stand out is that you have several third-party plugins and extensions installed, including:

    • Nik Collection (Color Efex, Silver Efex, Viveza, Dfine, etc.)
    • Topaz Photo AI
    • Coolorus
    • Other third-party filters and extensions

Normally, I’d suspect a plugin conflict, but since you already tested launching Photoshop while holding Shift to skip plugin loading and the issue still occurs, that makes this more interesting.

One observation from your testing is particularly important:

    • Immediately after reinstalling or updating Photoshop, the Refine Edge Brush works correctly.
    • After closing Photoshop and reopening it, the error returns.

That pattern suggests something may be getting corrupted or modified between launches rather than the installation itself being broken.

Could you try one more thing:

    • Create a brand-new local administrator Windows user account
    • Log into that account
    • Launch Photoshop
    • Test Select and Mask > Refine Edge Brush before installing any additional plugins or changing any preferences

This will help determine whether we’re dealing with:
    • A profile-specific issue
    • A permissions problem
    • Or something that Photoshop is writing into the user profile between launches

    Also, please confirm:

    • Does the error occur on every image?
    • Or only certain file types (JPEG, PNG, PSD, RAW, etc.)?

I don’t see anything else in the System Info that could be the issue here.

    Best,
    Anshul Saini

Hey, @kumononga_19. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I’ll help you figure this out. Please share a video of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System Info. Copy and paste it into a text document, then upload and attach it here.

Ensure there are no stale preferences in your Photoshop. Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

    • Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

    • You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe

    • Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2026 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2026. old), You can restore these preferences later if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)

    • Restart the computer.

These changes will provide a fresh start to Photoshop, much like a new installation.

Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!

    Hi, @Sameer K

First of all thank you for your welcome to the community and for answering my question. I have followed the method you tought above and it worked for first time I opened the photoshop after doing what you teach. I closed my photoshop and opened again and the issue happened again. I tried to uninstall and I got the same problem. Sorry for my english and the video, hope you understand.

    Thanks for sharing the updates.

The video shows more than the issue you’ve originally reported for. The System info indicates the username path to be:
     C:\Users\User\

Please follow the steps another user has shared: https://community.adobe.com/bug%2Dreports%2D711/p%2Dps%2Dv27%2D4%2Dremove%2Dtool%2Dgenai%2Don%2Dis%2Dnot%2Dworking%2Dand%2Dproducing%2Dartifacts%2D1550917/index2.html?postid=7524297#post7524297

Select Subject, Remove Tool and a few other features have reportedly appeared to function after following the steps above.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
