Question

Horizontal lines with brush tool - Shift doesn't constrain

Hi There,

Have just discovered that holding shift no longer constrains brushed lines horizontally or vertically - is that right?

Hopefylly this is new otherwise, I've finished an untold amount of work where the lines are not straight.

Any help much appreciated.

First of all I would reboot the computer, launch only Photoshop and then check if the issue persists.

Maybe use a different input device.

Thanks for the reply Monika, so I did as you asked but the issue persists - and I use either a mouse or MBP trackpad (and have tried with 2 different mice).

I suspect this is a change to Photoshop because if you hold shift and paint, it constrains to vertical/horizontal(first line in video below) but this isn't what I'm doing.

It's often more accurate to click once, hold shift then click again but now the resulting line isn't constrained (the second line in the video).

Do you know if this is an intentional change or a bug as a result of 'legacy transform' which has caused another shift bug (or maybe I'm just losing my mind!)?

Cheers, Ben

Hi Ben

Looking at your video, I assume that the first line was drawn with Shift held down?  Only that shows as perfectly horizintal when pasted to my system, as you can see from the guide.  Note I changed the guide to a dark blue so it would show on this page.

The second line appeared to join the two cursor positions as expected.

So am I missing someing?

Is your canvas slightly tilted?  (Hit Escape to cancel out if it is)
