Photoshop 22.0.1

How can I reset Photoshop so the "window"? "workspace"? - not sure of the term - automatically fits the image you are working on? It used to be if I used the zoom tool, the space would zoom or unzoom to fit the

image, then suddenly that stopped working.

See below. I'm talking about the red border area - in the top pic, it's too large for the image; in the bottom it's too small. I want it so whenever you zoom or unzoom, the border area zooms with it.

Thanks for your help.

Just for future reference, another way to change that setting is to go into Photoshop Preferences, and in the Tools settings, enable Zoom Resizes Windows.

It’s the same setting because if you change that or Resize Windows to Fit in the Zoom tool options bar, it changes in both places.

Additional methods:

  • View > Fit on Screen
  • if you have the Zoom tool selected, click the "Fit Screen" button in the Options bar at the top
  • double-click the Hand tool in the tools panel

Thanks Larry and Brett.

What worked was to select the Zoom tool, then check the box "Resize Windows to Fit".
