Question

How do I create a star trail video from multiple images

I have taken 150 images and created a single image of star trails.  I want to use these same images and create a video that shows the actual movement of the stars.  I've seen a few videos of this and want to try it.  BTW....I think I need to redo the final image that I'm sharing here and remove the lens correction.  Could that be adding the distortion in the sky?

Hi @WesDot11, using Photoshop, you can create a video from your 150 still images:

  1. Make sure your 150 images are organized in a folder and named/numbered so they are in the right sequence.
  2. Go to: File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack. Select all your images and click Load.
  3. With all layers loaded, go to Window > Timeline to open the Timeline panel.
  4. Click on the Create Frame Animation button in the Timeline panel.
  5. Set the duration for each frame to match the time interval between your shots. If your exposures were taken every 10 seconds, set the frame delay to 10 seconds. You can automate this by selecting all frames, right-clicking, and choosing Frame Delay to set the same duration for all frames.
  6. Then render the video file in .mp4 (or other format) and save.

As for your second question, I'm not sure how distortion in the sky will remove the lens correction? Did you try that to see if it worked? Maybe others will have more ideas if it didn't. Let us know how it goes!
