How do I get rid of the "Recents" window that pops up every time I close a file?

Seriously, I don't even know what to call this annoying "feature" so I can tell you what I mean. I've been a Photoshop user since version 1.0 (so, yeah 30 frisking years) and this is the most annoying this I have ever seen. Now every time I open and close a file I have to manually click and close this stupid window because there's no keyboard command to close it and WHY the **** does Adobe think I need to even SEE this stupid useless pice of bloatware BS?

How do I get rid of it?

There is a keyboard shortcut to close the Home screen. Press the Esc (escape) key.

Where has this gone in Photoshop 2023/2024? I no longer see it under Preferences / General.

It's all part of Adobe's plan to keep us on our toes, by changing the interface.  Imagine how boring it would be if everything stayed the same so you always knew where to find stuff.

Set the list to zero if you want to turn it off.

No, I did not see the 'show recent files workspace when opening files' box to uncheck. But I looked around and unchecked a few other things so that seems to have worked. Why oh why does PS think people need to see that window??? And every single time I edited a photo it flew up and needed to be removed.

hello ,

you can follow these steps :

How To Turn On The Recent Files Workspace

choose Preferences, and then choose General. On a Mac (which is what I'm using here), go up to the Photoshop CC menu, choose Preferences, then choose General:

Go to Edit (Win) / Preferences (Mac) > Preferences > General.

This opens the Preferences dialog box set to the General options. Look for the option that says Show "Recent Files" Workspace When Opening A File. Click inside its checkbox to enable it:

Selecting 'Show "Recent Files" Workspace When Opening A File'.

You'll need to quit and relaunch Photoshop for the change to take effect. To quit Photoshop, on a Windows PC, go up to the File menu and choose Exit. On a Mac, go up to the File menu and choose Quit Photoshop CC:
