How do I set Photoshop to 8-bit?

I am working fast to process a lot of images. I prefer a workflow without having to convert each image from 16-bit to 8-bit.  Is there a way to set photoshop to 8-bit? Google had no answers for me today 🙂

It's a property of the file itself; not Photoshop.

If they are coming from ACR you set it in ACR's workflow options.

If they are coming from Lightroom you set it in Lightroom preferences > external editing.

If they are coming from anywhere else you need to convert (but you can make an action).
