How do I use maori letter macrons with Photoshop Type tool?

As an alternative to use instead of installing Māori, you can use the Window>Glyphs panel.

    If you've already added the Māori keyboard to the Keyboard Input Sources, press “~” on your keyboard (on-screen keyboard viewer) at the same time you key a vowel letter to include Macrons on vowels.

      Hi there, I am obviously doing something wrong, as i just get `o.  I know I've done it in the past, can you please comment if there is a "trick" to this?
