How to change crop fill default in PS 2024?

Hi all,

Prior to the new update, I'd use the crop tool to easily expand the canvas around a photo in order to re-size to 5:4 for

Instagram. With the new update, I no longer have the option to expand with white and it automatically goes to

Transparent or Generative Expand or Content-Aware Fill.

Is there a way to get the default of expanding the crop back to expanding with a color/canvas?

Thanks!

Hi OP

Well, so you figured it out. I haven't. Would you mind sharing?

Hey @joziG,

You’re commenting on an older post, so you might not receive a response from the original poster. Please create a new post in the community detailing your issue. Include any error messages and your system information (you can find this in Photoshop by going to Help > System Info) attached as a text file.

Thanks!

I see.

Checkmark "Delete Cropped Pixels" first before expanding the canvas. Select background color.

Hold down Opt/alt while dragging one of the handles to keep an even border around the subject.

(Been a long time for me.)

Well, I thought I did by toggling the "delete cropped pixels" but turns out, that somehow only worked momentarily.

Still at a loss for an actual correct solution.
