How to Make Contiguous Checkbox Visible Again?

The PS 27.11.0 update hid the Contiguous checkbox. Now to see whether it’s checked or not, one has to click on the three dots in the Options bar. I am constantly using the Contiguous function, and this is a time-consuming and frustrating change. How can I make the Contiguous check-box always visible?

I see you have the Options Bar floating. Try docking it to the top of the screen; that will expand it to full width.

Hmm, I’m somewhat embarrassed to ask: how does one dock the Options bar? I’ve been trying to figure it out without any luck. Is it in Settings or am I just missing something simple right in the Options bar itself? (clearly it’s something I’ve never done before.)

I think the Contiguous field disappears when the screen is less than 1390 pixels wide, or there abouts.  What is your screen size @TrishMvhl ?

Hah!  I was expecting you to say it was a tiny notebook with a 720P screen.  I am sure John’s suggestion of docking the Options bar will fix it for you.  Nice artwork btw.

What is your screen resolution Trish? This is a 4K monitor and I lose the Contiguous field right about the half way point.  So, so it might work at 1920 pixels wide and above.  Is your screen smaller than that?  Can you increase its resolution in display settings?

I’m working on a 27” Mac Studio Display - it’s connected to my MacBook Pro laptop.

Yes I am talking about the Magic Wand tool. Before this update, I was able to glance at the Options bar and see if Contiguous was checked or not. I check and uncheck Contiguous often while I’m working (comic book colorist). Since the update, I have to click on the three dots to open a tiny drop-down and see what the Magic Wand tool is currently set at. It’s adding an extra step and slowing things down :(

OK, that’s useful, but I am still not sure of what exactly is going on.  Can you show us a screen shot of the entire workspace?  You can minimise/hide the document window if you like, but we need to see the Toolbar, full Options Bar, Layers panel with the layer you are selecting from selected.  The document tab might be use ful as well.

    Thanks

Right. I’ve got it now.  You are working on a fairly small screen and can’t see the entire Options bar. I have tried Enable Narrow Options Bar but that seems to remove the Contiguous field completely.  At least we all know what is going on now and look for a fix

In Edit > Preferences > Workplace, in the “More options” section, make sure the Enable Narrow Options Bar box is not checked, then close and restart Photoshop.

I’ve done that. Narrow Options Bar was never checked. Just to be sure, I turned it on and then off again and restarted. Didn’t help.

The Magic Wand is the only Contiguous I can think of, and it’s the same with Google.  However, I just checked Release (27.11) and beta and beta (27.2) and they both remember both the last tool used and the Contiguous state.

@TrishMvhl Can you clarify what you are seeing, what tool and any other information that you think might help?
