How to re-open my file that is 275MB? PS shows error

So I saved my PSD file this morning and when I came home later, PS didn't want to re-open it, either giving me a loading cursos with nothing after that, or throwing a generic error message. The file is fine, I'm sure, because I can import it into other CS apps like Lightroom or AfterEffects, but PS has a problem for some reason. I have Windows 11, 24GB RAM and an AMD Radeon laptop graphics. The file itself doesn't have that many layers, around 50, I think.

Any help, please?

File corruption is always caused by failing hardware, no exception. Often it's a component that is easily replaced, like a bad USB cable to an external drive, but it can also be RAM or a failing drive. Keep an eye on it, and if it happens again, try to isolate it. Then you need to do something.

Keep your backups current! If you don't have backup, drop everything and do it immediately. We all have backup.

File corruption is one of those things that will happen to everyone sooner or later. You need to be prepared.

@Tomas-B where did you save the file originally?

Ok, lesson learned. But it still sounds like nonsense. I never had a corrupted file in PS or any other program. And the psd file in question can be opened by all viewing programs just fine.

Could it be that PS has issues with larger files?

Any file can become corrupted. Do you keep backups? What is the error message?

The error message was simply "Could not complete your request because of a program error."

So literally nothing helpful.

Is that a joke? So every time I close PS I have to wonder if my file became corrupted? This is supposed to a commercial tool for professionals and I depend on it with my livelihood. Why do I (and by extention other customers) have to deal with this garbage?

It sounds like a corrupt file. Lightroom uses the composite layer saved with 'maximise file compatibility' checked. After Effects can use that flattened composite layer, or the individual layers depending on how you open it. Photoshop is looking for all layers to be intact.
