How to remove bad lighting color

I had lunch the other day with a friend I hadn't seen in over 10 years. The waitress was kind enough to take photos of the two of us. However when I finally looked at the photos the red lighting makes us hard to see.

I haven't worked in photoshop for several years and am at a loss on how to get this done. Any help would be appreciated.

It's the French touch!

First, I opened the images in Camera Raw. I applied white balance adjustments, etc...

Then, I created specific masks for the people, for the clothes, for the background, applying color adjustments, curves... to each.

Finally, I opened the images in Photoshop and finished by applying some final adjustments (curves, ...).

I am happy that you are satisfied, even though it is certainly possible to further improve the photos.

Best regards.

Thank you very much. I can now send her a copy. How did you do it?

I worked on it some without acceptable results. There does not seem to be enough data other than red to neutralize the color cast. I bet some with better skills than me will come up with something passable.

Consider making it just black and white. It will look fine that way.
