How to uninstall Photoshop 2025?

I want to uninstall Photoshop 2025. The reason is that I need the silicon version (I migrated from an intel Mac to a M4 Mac). When I start Photoshop I get an error 'Install Rosetta'. I just want to work with the native silicon version.

I tried to uninstall via the 'Creative Cloud' and 'Uninstall Photoshop' apps, but I always get the error "Install Rosetta". I read the Adobe pages about Rosetta but it was not clear for me what to do now.

Can I uninstall Photoshop by deleting it from the Applications folder?

Thanks. I just read that the Creative Cloud app is still intel, so Rosetta is required to run the Creative Cloud app.

My M4 silicon Mac does not arrive for another week, but this help page says "The Creative Cloud desktop app runs natively on Mac computers with Apple silicon."

If you used Migration Assistant, it may have brought over the old CC app. Apps need to be installed, not migrated. You may need to uninstall and use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool as instructed by DFosse before doing a clean install.

For me, until now working with an intel Mac, this all is a bit confusing. I guess I expected to see full native or universal versions of the Creative Cloud en Photoshop apps.

Thanks for the link. Looks like I looked at outdated info.

As far as installing the silicon versions: it was a wobbly road, but I think I managed...

First I downloaded the Creative Cloud installer with the idea to let it replace the current version. It ended with an error, something like "Can't install".
Then I saw the uninstaller for Creative Cloud in my Apps folder. Ran it, but it needed Rosetta....
Installed Rosetta, started the uninstaller again, now I got the error 'Can't uninstall because other apps are still present'. Hmmm, do I need to uninstall Photoshop en Lightroom first?
Luckily, then a message appeared that Creative Cloud needed to be updated for my silicon Mac.
I updated Creative Cloud and then I could also update Photoshop to the universal version.

Will do some testing later, but it looks like everything is OK now 🙂

I would not recommend that. Most likely you will not be able to install a new version because the installer thinks it's still there. In any case you will leave behind a proper mess.

A Mac user will have to tell you how to proceed - but worst case you can run the CC Cleaner Tool. The prime purpose of this is to deep-clean your system to fix install issues.
