I create sports jerseys but I always need pointy strokes and ps does not have it.

It is a shortcoming and a good feature request.
In the meantime, you could add the stroke inside the character rather than outside (after making the character slightly larger than you need to allow for the inner stroke). That will keep the outer stroke corners sharp. Unfortunately it is not perfect as some inner corners will still be rounded - but it does look a bit better than all outside corners rounded, and does remain editable.

Can you provide a screenshot of the type of effect you're after?

@Ged_Traynor if I'm understanding, @Erwin John32705300lk6g is comparing a layer style stroke (rounded corner) vs. a vector stroke (sharp corner). Once the live editable text is outlined to a path, there's no going back. This then requires multiple layers.

@Erwin John32705300lk6g not sure if I fully understand what you're trying to achieve, but you could convert the type layer to a smart object and then add a stroke, that way you can edit the type layer by double-clicking on the type layer's thumbnail
