I'm trying to create a composite image. I added an object to the background image, but the object is way too big. How can I manipulate it to make it smaller?

To clarify, when you used Ctrl+V to paste, Photoshop should have created a new layer and not added the object to the Background layer. Check your Layers panel to confirm.

1. Select the goose layer
2. press control-T, then control-0 [zero]; the transform handles will appear at the corners
3. scale the goose layer to taste

The next hurdle may be removing/blending the layer, but first thing first.
