Question

I repetitively do the same edits its similar to a cut out but will included the cast shadow. while a little bespoke it would be great if it can learn behaviour. I cut out the item including its shadow then brush over the shadow using the refine tool

Lasso > around the object on a white background, include the shadow, then quick mask and fill bucket to select the area for the mask, then into  refine mask I brush the shadow, so that the mask allows the shadow to have transparency.

So while its similar to select subject, select subject and its cast shadow.

Its something I do repetitively and would be great if it could learn from me.

     @Mattmcquiff

    You’ve been on the forums for 16 years, so you may know that actions will only repeat a series of steps. They will not be able to lasso an object or paint across a shadow.

    If you post a sample image and give us your steps, someone may be able to better assist.

    Trust me, I love a script and an Action, I use keyboard Maestro to run many scripts making life easier.
    Dare I say it this part that id like to automate is actually my main job, so maybe I should be careful what I wish for!

    Ive tried many ways to simplify the method, but it does still rely on my interaction to know what the difference is between what is needed and what is not.
