Question

I tried to use generative upscale to enlarge an album cover, but a nude illustration on the cover is preventing it.

I tried to use Firefly upscaler to enlarge an album cover, but I’m getting a guidelines error.

“We encountered and issue with your result.  Please view our guidelines and try again."

The problem is a very simple and tasteful nude illustration on the cover.  If I remove the nude artwork, the upscale is generated without any problems.   Images are below.  Image on left would not upscale, but the image on the right upscaled without a problem.  While I understand this is intended to prevent users from creating pornography or images with explicit nudity, this image is clearly neither of those things.  I was able to use a competitors software to get the job done, but it would be a more efficient workflow to stay in Photoshop.    I've seen numerous posts from users in the fashion industry that cannot upscale images for the same reason.  If you worked for a publication like Playboy, I would imagine the generative tools would be completely useless for editing their content.

There needs to be  more fine tuning to this upscaler AI so it isn't so heavy-handed and puritanical.

How big is your original.  Your screenshot was 428 x 428.

I’ve got it to 1712 x 1712 with Topaz Gigapixel, but could go higher with a larger original.

I’m not so sure that I should be doing this.  :-(

The original was 640x640.  I didn’t try Topaz Gigapixel or Bloom, because I have found that Firefly generally works just fine for basic upscaling, and especially simple images like this one.  I just tested Topaz Gigapixel and it worked for me too, so I’ll try that next time Firefly gives me errors.

Topaz had a deal for Studio a few days, brining it way down to US$163 a year, so I subscribed.  So far, really impressed.  I especially like the online app Bloom, and I have been going through old family photos with decent results.  This is my dad aged four, and is typical of what I am seeing.

Unless there are two bands with the same name, I saw the Thrill Kill Cult perform a number of years ago. My friend’s daughter was in the band. I think I still have my t-shirt.

There is only one Thrill Kill Kult, also known as TKK.  They just played here in Dallas last weekend, but I missed the show.

Adobe has restrictive policies on what content it will allow on its servers. I’m a bit surprised that they will process copyrighted album art, frankly.

FWIW, I use it to upscale album artwork on an almost daily basis and I’ve never had an issue until now.
