Question

Image resized temporarily when adjusting borders

Since a short period I have the an ‘unwanted’ effect in Photoshop.

When an image is on screen,  I regularly want to adjust the image borders (I mean the borders of the screen that holds the image) to reduce that screen with the image. During this action, the image itself also gets temporarily smaller and afterwards retakes its original size on screen. I’m losing time with this effect and it is also disturbing.

I would like to know how this effect can be switched off.

Adobe Virtual Assistant suggests I should deselect the Resize Windows To Fit option, or that I should deselect the Zoom Resizes Windows option, but this doesn’t work.

So which Photoshop option would control this effect?

Thanks for your patience, @Johan240456801yuv, and @Ged_Traynor for verifying this. A similar bug was fixed in v25.9. I’ve shared this with the team to identify the possible regression.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I received a message with an answer from Ged_Traynor yesterday, but that answer is not visible here.

In the message, the answer is:

@Srishti Bali I can replicate the issue the OP is seeing, happens resizing and scrolling with the middle mouse button with the undocked window, I’ve attached a screen recording of what’s happening.

Then follows the question: ‘What do you think, Johan240456801yuv?’

I’m not sure to what I should answer. What do you expect from me?

    Regards,

    Johan

    Hi,

    Thanks for the answers.

I added a small mp4 that shows the effect.

Bad quality and I held the camera not exactly horizontal, but you can clearly see the effect on the image when I change the borders.

    Best regards,

    Johan

    Hi @Johan240456801yuv

Thanks for reaching out. I am assuming that you're using the crop tool, but the cropped result isn’t being retained and the original image keeps appearing instead, but still I agree with @Ged_Traynor it’s quite difficult to fully understand the issue without seeing it in action. It would really help if you could share screenshots or a screen recording that demonstrates the problem.

In the meantime, here are a few things you could check:

    • Restarting Photoshop and your computer can sometimes resolve minor glitches.
    • Does this issue occur with all images, multiple files, or just a specific one?
    • Please also share your operating system and the version of Photoshop you're using.

These details will help us better understand the situation and assist you more effectively.

    Regards,

    Srishti

@Johan240456801yuv not sure if I understand your issue, can you post a screenshot of the Photoshop interface to highlight the issue
