Importing as smart object into photoshop

Hi everyone. So I'm new to Photoshop and I would just like to know if I can import a vector from illustrator into photoshop as a smart object on the photoshop iPad app. If that's not possible are there any alternatives?

Hi

Illustrator files will be converted to PNG and SOs are converted to raster (for now).
