Question

In Photoshop the remove tool does not work. It suggests I connect to the internet but I am connected and not using a VPN. This seems to be pretty persistent and is causing me some serious issues.

When I make a selection and choose “remove” Photoshop takes a long time to consider and then informs me I need to check my internet connection. My computer (Mac M4 Max) is up to date and has sufficient RAM and I have strong stable internet connection. This problem seems to be pretty persistent. Other AI options seem to be working but remove isn’t.

    Hi @66vinver,

Thanks for reporting this. Since you have a stable internet connection and other AI features in Photoshop are working, I’d like to narrow down whether this is specific to the Remove Tool’s processing mode rather than your connection itself.

    Could you please share:

    • Help > System Info > Copy and paste the information into your reply.

    • The pixel dimensions of an image where this consistently happens (for example, 8256 × 5504).

    • Whether this happens with every document or some specific one?

Please also go to Photoshop > Settings > Image Processing > Remove Tool Processing > Faster. Select the Remove Tool from the Tool panel, then go to the Option Bar > Generative AI on > Generative AI Processing: Device, and test the same removal.

An additional comparison, please create a small new document or resize a copy of one affected image to a substantially smaller size, and try the same Remove operation. There’s no need to alter your original file.

If the problem occurs on the full-resolution image but the smaller copy works, that will be particularly useful information for the investigation.

    Best,
