Install PS 25.7 via CreativeCloud

Hello,

my laptop has no AVX2-support (Core i7 3rd Generation) and when I try to install Photoshop on it it fails.

I know that the laptop is old but it is still fast enough for me.

I read that PS 25.7 should run on that CPU.

But in the CreateiveCloudCenter I canot download old versions anymore.

Where do I get an old version of PS?

I pay 750 Euro every year to adobe and cannot access old versions? Did I miss something?

Greetings

Stefan

The AVX2 requirement has been in place for quite a few years. Even if you - hypothetically - could find a v25 installer, I very much doubt it would work. I think you’d need to go further back.

But basically, if you want to use Photoshop, you need reasonably current hardware - which is to say, up to 7 or 8 years max. To take advantage of new hardware development, it is simply not possible to maintain compatibility with 14-15 year old computers, which is what you have. AVX2 was supported by Intel processors from 2013.

    Hello, “D Fosse”, “LAMY2017”,

I know what you wrote and PS v25 worked on my PC already and the CPU is from 2013 but AVX is implemented after 2014.

I don’t expect Adobe to test CURRENT versions like PS 27 on old CPU and this was not my question.

    My question was:

How could I access as a paying customer with a valid subscription for which I pay a lot of money / year old versions of PS?

In the past this was possible by selecting “Other versions” in the CreativeCloud” but this option is no longer there.

@Stefan34613976nwfa, you can try contacting Adobe Customer Care via chat to request direct download links for specific older versions that are not visible in the Creative Cloud app and see if they can help you. Make sure you are logged into your Adobe account and go to https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen.

“still fast enough for me” does not equal fast enough for newer versions of CPU, GPU, Os and Ps.

No amount of wishing or frugality can overcome a fatal lack of hardware or tech.

Adobe Photoshop on desktop technical requirements

Technical requirements for version 27.x and later

Intel or AMD CPUs having AVX2 support

    • GPU with DirectX 12 (feature level 12_0 or later)
    • 1.5 GB of GPU memory
    • GPU newer than 7 years. Keep drivers updated with the latest from manufacturer's website. Adobe does not test with GPUs older than 7 years.
