Question

Is it okay to download an older version of Photoshop?

Hello,

My laptop is too old (10+ years old) to run the latest Photoshop. So I found an old Photoshop CS5 installer on internet archive and can use it for free (since it's so old). I have tested it before and it's completely safe and virus free. Nothing bad happened to my computer. I don't have the intention of pirating anything. And yes I did try other free and open source alternative like Gimp, Krita, Clipstudio, Photopea, Affinity Photo, etc, but Photoshop has the best tools and settings that would work for me. Just asking to make sure since Adobe is against cracked software.

For the record, and to dispel any misconceptions, it does not matter how old it is. CS5 is not free.

It's definitely no longer supported but you can only use it past its 30 day trial period if you already have a valid serial number due to purchasing the software in the past.

A safer option might be to use Adobe Express:

Unfortunately, it sounds like your laptop is just a bit too old to run Photoshop on the Web:

Hi, thank you for responding! I'll take a look at Adobe Express and yep I figured my laptop was too old to run Photoshop on the Web. It socks but I do understand!

You not legally using it if it is not during the 30 day trial period.

If it is a cracked version, you should do a malware scan, as it may contain time bomb malware that will affect the system at some future date.

Hello, thank you for your response! Yeah, it would be considered illegal, regardless if it's old/outdated, unsupported, and/or abandoned/neglected. I will be glad scan it because I do not want any virus like the time bomb malware you mentioned.
