Question

Is the hardness option of the quick selection tool actually decisive?

Hello everyone. I was doing some experiments on Photoshop and I made a selection with the quick selection tool. The first time I used the hardness set to 0%, the second time I set it to 100% and guess what? No differences at all. Well, at least if there are any differences they're imperceptible. Can you explain this to me? Thanks.

It's going to depend entirely on the particular image, and the area you are trying to select.  A sharply defined object with a clear delineation from its background — like when photographed with minimal depth of field — is going to select much the same regardless of the hardness setting.   The hardness setting will be much more apparent when selecting an object with a soft or fuzzy outline.  I rarely use those settings nowadays because the Ai is so good at working it out.
