Can you post screenshot to illustrate the problem you are trying to solve?

What kind of fringing? If it is colour fringing after masking a subject on a layer then you could clip another layer to it, set it to blend mode color, then quickly paint around the edges with a brush, using the same colours from near the edge of the subject. Clipping prevents spill outside of the masked subject.
