Issue with letter displacement on text rotation

I have used really old photoshops without issue for years (cs6/cs7). I started having problems with rotating text that I never ran into before. On the old photoshops, you could easily rotate text in images without it destroying the letters and displacing them horribly. Other people have posted about this issue too but there seems to be no resolution... Any help is greatly appreciated. The font i'm using is a standard one, arial
