Issues with Photoshop

I’m having insane Photoshop issues
I’m running Windows 11 on a Dell 8660 precision, I have 128 GB of RAM using   Photoshop 27.4
Never really had any problems with this machine But I’m having massive problems with Photoshop

Tool, jumping, lately when I’m using a tool and I switched to another tool using the keyboard it jumps back. It’s a joke. I’ll go from Zoom to pen tool and as soon as I put the cursor over and start to work, it jumps back to Zoom or really any tool if I direct select the tool, it still happens but not as bad as when I use my keyboard. Now before anyone blames my keyboard, I have no issues with my keyboard at all except tool selection and Photoshop, this has been happening for a while, but with this latest version of Photoshop, it’s happening constantly. I’ve rebooted my machine. I’ve updated my machine. It’s still happening.

Next issue is

Freezing! Photoshop locks up constantly every day it’ll lock up from 30 seconds all the way up to five minutes. It has done it in the past but nowhere near as much as it does now there is no rhyme or reason it just freezes up it used to freeze up after doing very repetitive things such as pathing or painting but now I just locks up no other program on my PC locks up except Photoshop so when it freezes I just go do something else send emails because nothing else is having an issue except Photoshop and like I said earlier, it’s always happened, but with this latest version it’s happening constantly.

Please advise.

Please give us more informations about your system. This can be get from the Photoshop menu item Help > System Info. There's a copy button in the System Info dialog. Press this button and paste the info into your next forum post, or better past the info in a .txt file and attach it to your next post.

Does this work in the past? If yes, what has been changed on your system before the error occur?.

    My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

These issues usually happen because of GPU, preferences, or corrupted settings. You can try:

    1. Reset Photoshop preferences: Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) when launching Photoshop and confirm reset.

    2. Check GPU settings:

      • Edit → Preferences → Performance → uncheck Use Graphics Processor and restart.

      • If it helps, your GPU driver may need updating.

    3. Update GPU drivers from Dell/NVIDIA/AMD directly.

    4. Check scratch disks: Make sure Photoshop has enough free space on a fast drive.

    5. Disable third-party plugins temporarily to see if one is causing tool jumps/freezes.

    6. If problems persist, reinstall Photoshop using the latest installer from Adobe.

These steps usually fix jumping tools and freezing on Windows 11.

On the first issue, can you go to Preferences > Tools and if ‘Spring -loaded Tool Shortcuts’ is checked, uncheck it.

On the second, does Windows task manager indicate what process is freezing?
