Layer mode select stays selected

Hello, this is a little hard to explain so I will do my best. I am running PS CC 2018 on Windows 7.

When I select a layer mode (e.g. multiply, overlay), the layer mode box stays selected, so when I use certain buttons they won't work. I need to press Enter to 'confirm' and de-select the layer mode box. It's a small issue but it really affects my work flow, is there any way to stop this from happening?

It is Windows bug for a long time and it affects any selectable drop-down list in Photoshop. I haven't found any workaround but I found that this can be actually advantage sometimes to use keyboard shortcuts (up and down keys) to cycle through blending modes.

Thank you for the feedback on this topic.  Like many of you,  it has been a nusiance to myworkflow as well.

Please have a look at the next Photoshop Beta for relief.
Let us know if works, or not works, well enough and allows you to work normally again.

Yes this is an annoying/timewasting feature. Please add an option to turn this off 🙂

I'm really hoping this gets fixed. It's pretty frustrating when I select a blend mode, then press a hotkey (like "B" for brush) and it doesn't register because the blend mode selection menu is still active. This and the alt-key menu popups are absolutely infuriating. It's a broken workflow and really slows us down.

I forgot to mention, these are windows-only problems. Not a problem on Mac.

Thankyou to everyone. It looks like there is nothing to be done about it; let's just hope it can be fixed sometime in the future. Thankyou Bojan Živković, it will be beneficial to try and see the positives
